Frequently Asked Questions

Points for framing calligraphy:

Framing and hanging calligraphy for lasting enjoyment: If the work is on archival paper, the use of an archival quality mount will ensure the work remains acid free and the paper does not get brown spots over time. It is important to have the glass sitting clear of the surface of the work so that there are no condensation points created which can damage the piece. This is particularly so if there is raised gold on the work. Your framer can insert spacers to ensure the glass sits away from the work if the mount/s chosen don't provide this space, or if there are no mounts included. Hanging the piece away from direct light and heat will also provide longevity.

Calligraphic prints:

The quality of a print will vary depending on the printing process used, the paper quality and the how light fast the inks are. Giglee prints are of the highest quality using a process developed to reproduce art works, optimising colour and detail to the original. The inks are light fast and providing the print is well framed and kept away from direct light will last for many, many years.

Invitations and calligraphy:

If you are looking for a truly different and personalised invitation to your special event design Calligraphy will work with you to create a design, style and lettering that will be your introduction to your special day.Alternatively, if your invitations or event stationery have been printed, and you wish to have calligraphy to add names and addresses of invitees then there are some things to consider before you commission calligraphy. All lettering is done by hand in a script and colour to compliment your chosen design, so the costs involved are for the time and the expertise of the calligrapher to complete your work to achieve the best results. Engage the calligrapher as early as possible so that your chosen paper and design allow for the addition of calligraphy.
